POLICE REPORTS: Woman saves herself with frying pan, broom handle

Aggravated assault, 1800 block of Railroad Street. A woman was cooking dinner for her children when she and her boyfriend began to argue. Officer said the man threw her against a wall and began assaulting her. Then he threw a kitchen knife at her, which she deflected with a frying pan, saving herself from injury. He then dragged her outside and continued assaulting her in the yard. Officers said she broke a broom handle over his head, and he finally fled in his car. According to the NPD report, the argument initially broke out because the boyfriend was taking food that was intended for the woman's kids and before the rest of dinner had been cooked. A warrant for has been requested.

Criminal mischief. 1300 block of West Main Street. A man broke out a window at his mother's house after she wouldn't allow him inside at about 6 a.m. Sunday.

Theft, 2400 block of South Street. A man came over to visit a woman. She left him unattended for a few minutes while she went to the bathroom and upon returning, she noticed he was in a hurry to leave. Her wallet later turned up missing. According to the report, they have a long history of drama.
